Obama renominates Jay Williams for EDA post
YOUNGSTOWN — Because former Youngstown Mayor Jay Williams wasn’t confirmed by the Senate to head the Economic Development Administration by Dec. 31, President Barack Obama had to renominate him as his choice for the job.
Obama did so late Monday in Washington. Williams, who had a confirmation hearing Dec. 17 with the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, probably won’t be called again by the committee to answer questions.
The committee will make that decision as well as a recommendation to the full Senate in the coming weeks. Williams needs confirmation from the Senate for the job.
