Researcher honored

Andrew J. Razzano Jr., D.O., formerly of Niles and a fifth-year orthopedic surgery resident at Affinity Medical Center, Massillon, has been recognized for his work as the lead researcher with Dr. Kerwyn Jones of Akron Children’s Hospital.

Their research titled “Indirect Shoulder MRI Anthrography: A Novel Technique for Identifying Labral Pathology in Young Patients” took the top honors at the annual Akron Combined Orthopaedic Surgery Research Day and Ohio University CORE Research Day.

Dr. Razzano, a 2001 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and a 2009 graduate of Ohio University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine, has been invited to present his research at the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons in New Orleans in March and at Mid-America Orthopedics in San Antonio, Texas, in April.

Dr. Razzano graduates in June and has been accepted into a sports-medicine fellowship with Beacon Orthopedics, participating in the care of players with the Cincinnati Reds.

Dr. Razzano is the son of Andrew and Carrie Razzano of Niles and the grandson of Ronald and Joanne Pentz of Canfield and the late Frank and Mary Morabito Razzano of Niles.
