AUSTINTOWN
A homeless man faces arraignment Jan. 13 in county court here on four warrants for drug-related crimes.
Township police arrested David Bidwell, 35, who told them he was homeless, after a traffic stop Wednesday.
He was arrested for a warrant out of Newton Falls Municipal Court for illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs, and he had three warrants in Summit County Common Pleas Court for illegal manufacture of drugs, illegal assembly or possession of chemicals to manufacture drugs and aggravated possession of drugs.
All of the charges are felonies.
In addition to those charges, Austintown police charged Bidwell with illegal assembly or possession of chemicals to produce methamphetamine and obstructing official business.
Police stopped a white truck on Mahoning Avenue for an expired registration just after 8 p.m. As the car came to a stop, a male in the passenger seat jumped out of the vehicle and began running, according to police reports.
Police tracked Bidwell’s footprints and found him hiding in a creek.
Inside the vehicle, police found two screwdrivers, a crowbar, a pair of gloves, ski mask, stocking cap and half of a doorknob. The items were taken as evidence.
Police cited the vehicle’s driver for having expired plates.
Bidwell was taken to Mahoning County jail.
