Students at Poland Union Elementary School were busy making a crafty holiday gift for their families Dec. 5.

The school’s PTO provided the students with materials to make and decorate a picture frame and holiday-themed photos of the students were then taken to be put in the frames.

“We wanted to come up with a Christmas project that would double as a gift. For this project, students can use their own creativity to decorate their frame. It’s not a structured project. They can do it the way they want and their creative juices are flowing. It’s fun to watch,” said Beth Harrell, organizer of the art project.

Parent volunteers from each grade level were on hand to help the students with their projects.

“It’s interesting to see the difference in each grade level’s projects,” Harrell said.

The PTO sponsors art projects for the students two to three times a year. The school recently decorated ornaments for Pioneer Tree Farm’s Trees for Troops.
