POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Liberty and Hubbard:
GIRARD
Dec. 29
Arrests: A traffic stop on U.S. Route 422 led to disorderly-conduct charges against Lashava B. Barnes, 18, of Dupont Avenue and Chondia T. Barnes, 23 of Forestview Drive. The two Youngstown women became verbally combative toward police and refused to follow certain commands after having been informed their vehicle would be towed, a report showed.
Dec. 30
Theft: A woman discovered a $118 money order missing from her apartment in the 1000 block of Patricia Drive.
Domestic violence: Aubrey A. Foose, 18, of East Second Street, Girard, faced a felony charge after his girlfriend alleged Foose had pushed and slapped her during an argument. The charge was upgraded to a fifth-degree felony because the accuser was pregnant, police said.
Arrest: American D. Green, 33, of Ohio Avenue, Girard, was picked up on a warrant from the Newton Falls Probation Department.
Jan. 1
Theft: A North St. Clair Avenue woman reported the theft of a $250 cellphone.
Criminal mischief: An East Kline Street man saw that his vehicle’s windshield had been smashed. Damage was estimated at $500.
Menacing: An Ohio Avenue woman said her former boyfriend made implied threats toward her via calls and text messages.
Theft: A woman reported a $70 cellphone stolen from her Ohio Avenue home.
Assault: A man told authorities that while walking in the 700 block of North Highland Avenue, two men punched the back of his head, then repeatedly kicked and punched the accuser’s ribs while he was on the ground.
LIBERTY
Dec. 28
Arrest: Authorities arrested a 48-year-old Philadelphia man after eight cans of baby formula were stolen from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road. Charges were pending against the man, who police said also had a phony New Jersey identification card and was wanted on a warrant from Bucks County, Pa.
Burglary: To a residence in the 200 block of Colonial Drive through a rear door, though it appeared nothing was missing.
Thefts: Officers responded to a shoplifting situation at Walmart before charging Michael D. Huellen, 35, of Homestead, Pa., with one felony count each of receiving stolen property, theft and possession of criminal tools, as well as misdemeanor counts of carrying a concealed weapon and having no operator’s license. Huellen, who had a folding knife and a razor blade, admitted having stolen more than $1,200 worth of electronic items from the store and to having in his vehicle more than $1,000 worth of property that had been stolen from Walmart in Boardman, police said.
Theft: A Chrysann Drive man reported a personal check stolen from his minivan was cashed for $200.
Domestic violence: Melissa R. Dykes, 23, of Squirrel Hill Drive, Mineral Ridge, was charged with domestic violence and resisting arrest after her mother, of Logan Arms Drive, alleged Dykes had attacked her. The younger Dykes also became agitated and struggled briefly with police, they said.

Trespassing: Officers answered a disturbance call in the 3000 block of Frederick Street, where they issued a summons charging 28-year-old Summer E. Jackson of North Avenue, Youngstown, with criminal trespassing. Jackson was in an apartment despite having been banned from the property, a report said.
Dec. 30
Arrest: Youngstown police in the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue handed to township authorities 49-year-old John C. Houser Sr. of Hilton Avenue, Youngstown, who was wanted on an outstanding Girard Municipal Court warrant.
Breaking and entering: Someone forcibly entered Belmont Wireless, 3100 Belmont Ave., through a second-floor rear window and stole about $675 worth of merchandise, including car stereos.
Arrest: Liberty Township and Youngstown authorities met in the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue to transfer custody of Quinton L. Gilbert, 23, to township police. Gilbert, of East Judson Avenue, Youngstown, was wanted on a probation-violation warrant.
Dec. 31
Criminal damaging: A car in the 3000 block of Northgate Drive was found with all of its tires slashed and the windshield cracked. The damage estimate was $700.
Jan. 1
Theft: A 30-day temporary tag was removed from a vehicle in the 200 block of Colonial Drive.
Domestic violence: John L. Killin, 30, of Northgate Drive, Liberty, was charged with the crime after his girlfriend alleged Killin had struck her face and choked the accuser when she requested to buy baby formula.
Assault: Police charged Bradley S. Tomko of Como Street, Struthers, with assault, criminal damaging and criminal trespassing after responding to a disturbance and alleging Tomko, 19, admitted having beaten up his girlfriend’s brother, of Tibbetts-Wick Road. Tomko also was accused of breaking several vehicle taillights and returning to the property after having been told to leave, a report showed.
HUBBARD
Dec. 24
Assault: A West Liberty Street man alleged a Warren man, 56, pushed him and tossed the accuser over a couch during an argument.
Attempted fraud: A Jean Drive woman reported a caller claiming she had computer viruses told her he needed $280 up front to make necessary repairs. The woman hung up and was advised to change her passwords and check her bank activity online.
Theft: A North Main Street woman discovered a Christmas card and cookies missing from her mailbox.
Dec. 26
Breaking and entering: Someone broke into a building in the 800 block of Elmwood Drive via a rear door and took a $400 heater.
Dec. 29
Trespassing: A Drummond Avenue woman said a family member came onto her property without permission.
Dec. 30
Menacing: A clerk with an East Liberty Street gas station said a 21-year-old Hubbard man threatened to beat him up, though he declined to press charges.
Theft: A woman reported $85 missing from her home in the 400 block of South Main Street.
Dec. 31
Incident: A woman told officers her elderly boyfriend had jumped from her vehicle. The man was taken to ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital for an evaluation, a police report said.
