Man gets attorney in Ohio pizza driver death case

CAMBRIDGE, Ohio (AP) — An eastern Ohio man accused of killing a pizza-delivery driver has requested and received a court-appointed attorney.

Adam Charles Burris is charged with murder in the slaying of 26-year-old Kayla Thompson of Cambridge, roughly 80 miles east of Columbus.

Burris is jailed on a $1 million bond. His attorney, Andrew Warhola, didn’t immediately return a message seeking comment today.

Authorities in Guernsey County say Thompson didn’t return from a delivery to Burris’ home on Dec. 26. The sheriff says Burris was later taken into custody and led authorities to Thompson’s body near a boat ramp at Dillon State Park in neighboring Muskingum County.

Burris’ next municipal court date is a preliminary hearing Tuesday in Cambridge.
