POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:
POLAND
Dec. 24
Burglary: To a residence in the 4800 block of Miller Road, from which a checkbook, two checks and an automated-teller-machine card were stolen.
Breaking and entering/damage: Someone broke into a home in the 4200 block of Arrel Road and took a gold wristwatch. Also, a vehicle was damaged.
Dec. 25
Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Miller Road woman said her 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer was used without permission.
Arrest: A traffic stop on U.S. Route 224 resulted in the arrest of 50-year-old Dess A. Fedele of East Liberty Street, Hubbard, on a charge of failure to comply with police. She also was cited on charges of operating a vehicle impaired and reckless operation of a motor vehicle.

Dec. 26
Theft/drugs: Police charged 43-year-old Timothy M. Williams, no address listed, with theft, cocaine possession, receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia after merchandise was stolen from Macy’s in Southern Park Mall. Williams, who also was wanted on a Trumbull County warrant, had a bag of suspected crack cocaine and a suspected crack pipe, a report showed.
Theft: Roughly $729 worth of perfume was stolen from Ulta Beauty, 463 Boardman-Poland Road.
Theft: Annette L. Alexander, 38, of Ferndale Avenue, Youngstown, was charged after a Campbell man reported a business cellphone stolen while at a Doral Drive store.
Theft: Officers charged Keijuan L. Perkins of Jacobs Road, Youngstown, with theft and obstructing official business after $289 worth of Sony PlayStation 3 games was stolen from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive. Perkins, 21, also provided a false name and date of birth, police said.
Arrest: Authorities in the 4800 block of Brookwood Road picked up 38-year-old Kristi L. Novotny of Brookwood, Boardman, who was wanted on a warrant accusing her of failing to appear in court on a driving-under-suspension charge.
Theft: Mindy A. Marckel, 29, was charged with theft. Marckel, of Leighton Avenue, Boardman, was accused of taking about $53 worth of women’s clothing from Walmart.
Theft: Authorities charged 57-year-old Keith E. Allen with theft and possession of criminal tools after alleging Allen, of West LaClede Avenue, Youngstown, stole cologne, perfume and a wristwatch from Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road, and used a pocket knife to cut the packages.
Dec. 27
Theft: Brett A. Wilson, 33, of Compass West Drive, Austintown, was issued a summons accusing him of stealing a pocket knife, glue and other items from Walmart.
Vandalism: Someone damaged an automatic-payment machine at a South Avenue car wash.
Theft: A Columbiana woman reported her purse stolen at a Market Street restaurant.
Assault: A man reported having been struck in the forearm while in the 100 block of Overhill Drive retrieving property that belongs to his mother-in-law. He was found bleeding from his left arm, a report said.
Theft: Michael A. Vrable, 26, of Bay Hill Drive, Canfield, faced a felony count after a woman reported 29 pieces of gold jewelry worth about $4,500 missing from her West Boulevard residence.
Fraud: A Tippecanoe Road woman discovered an $1,800 unauthorized transaction to her debit-card account.
Theft: A man stole 153 pieces of artwork from the basement of a Tanglewood Drive residence.
Theft: Former tenants reportedly stole copper piping after having been evicted from a residence in the 100 block of Clifton Drive.
Breaking and entering: Someone broke into a garage in the 100 block of Shadyside Drive and removed a bag containing income-tax returns.
Theft: A Hitchcock Road woman noticed $132 missing from her checking account.
Theft: A $120 air compressor was missing from a Boardman Fire Department station, 6169 South Ave.
Identity theft: A Youngstown woman told police her stolen identity was used in an effort to finance a vehicle at a Market Street dealership.
Thefts: Campbell police handed 46-year-old Shana L. Myers of Atkinson Avenue, Youngstown, to township authorities. Myers was wanted on two theft charges after items were stolen from Ulta Beauty and Rulli Bros., 8025 South Ave.
Fraud: A Cook Avenue man noticed a fraudulent $828 charge to his debit card.
Theft: A man stole two ink cartridges valued at $60 from Walmart.

Citation: A traffic stop on Lake Park Road led to a citation charging 22-year-old Taylor L. Fortune of West Sixth Street, McDonald, with operating a vehicle impaired.
Theft: Anthony J. Valentino Jr., 22, of Struthers-Liberty Road, Campbell, was charged with stealing roughly $329 worth of merchandise from store displays at Walmart.
Theft: A woman in her 20s stole a $350 cellphone from Target.
Theft: Two women took sleepwear items, lingerie and toiletries from Walmart.
Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Sharon, Pa., man who had rented a Chevrolet Sonic vehicle in the 7700 block of Market Street said a friend failed to return the car.
Identity fraud: A man reportedly submitted false information to obtain an Advantage card at Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive.
Theft: A woman reported $300 stolen from her Hudson Drive home.
Theft: A 16-year-old township girl was charged with stealing two jewelry sets from the J.C. Penney store in Southern Park Mall.
Assault: A Lockwood Boulevard woman alleged her boyfriend twisted her arms behind her back and choked her during an argument pertaining to a cellphone message.
Fraud: A Crestview Drive man noticed $1,575 worth of such charges to his debit card that originated in Ontario, Canada.
Theft: A man stole an Xbox controller, a wireless speaker and an iPhone case from Walmart.
Burglary: Occurred at a home in the 900 block of Indianola Road by unknown means. Ten U.S. Savings Bonds and a safe-deposit-box key were missing.
Theft: Robert E. Hallas of Melbourne Avenue, Boardman, was taken into custody on two theft warrants after having been pulled over on Glenwood Avenue. The 30-year-old Hallas was accused of stealing video-game controllers and other items from Target, 417 Boardman-Poland Road, as well as merchandise from Walmart.

Citation: Police on Market Street pulled over and cited 21-year-old Gerald W. Yerkey III of New Buffalo Road, North Lima, on charges of driving under suspension and having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle before releasing him.
Criminal damaging/menacing: A Girard woman saw damage to her car’s driver’s side while visiting her sister in the 7400 block of West Boulevard. She also reported having gotten threatening calls and text messages.
Burglary: To an apartment in the 100 block of Lemans Drive via the front door. Among items stolen were a computer, an Xbox 360 system and a 32-inch flat-screen TV.
Theft: A township man discovered his checkbook missing while at a Doral Drive big-box store.
Theft: Summer R. Roman, 32, of Canfield Road, Youngstown, was charged in the theft of $48 worth of property from Walmart.
Arrest: Police conducted a welfare check in the 4200 block of Hillman Way before taking into custody 56-year-old Carlton D. Lillard of Mabel Street, Youngstown. He was wanted on a warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court on a charge of passing bad checks.
Burglary/forgery: A Pinetree Lane man told police someone stole and forged 19 checks after having entered his apartment.
Theft: Hania A. Qutail, 32, of Eagle Trace Drive, Boardman, and 33-year-old Arnad S. Ramaiti of South Raccoon Road, Austintown, were charged after a coffee mug and six other items were stolen from Walmart.
Identity fraud: A Sharon Drive man realized someone without authorization changed part of his credit-card information.
Arrest: Police on Boardman-Canfield Road pulled over and arrested 46-year-old Brian L. Thomas of East Judson Avenue, Youngstown, who was wanted on a warrant charging failure to comply with court orders.
Theft/criminal damaging: Someone in the 7300 block of Southern Boulevard broke a vehicle’s window before removing a $300 radio/compact-disc player.
