Man, 22, found shot to death in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio

Authorities say a 22-year-old man died after being shot in the stomach at a western Ohio home.

So far no one has been charged in the Monday shooting death of Eric M. Wheeler in southeast Springfield. The Springfield News-Sun reports that the Clark County Coroner’s Office confirmed his identity Tuesday.

A 28-year-old man who lives at the house was questioned by police, but he hasn’t been charged.

Investigators had to get a search warrant after the family of the man being detained refused to allow officers to search the house. Police said a 9mm pistol, believed to be the weapon involved, was seized along with other items from the house.
