POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:
HUBBARD
Feb. 18
Harassment: A West Park Avenue woman said a neighbor continually knocked on her door, apparently after he became upset when a smoke alarm sounded.
Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Dorchester Drive woman alleged her teenage daughter took the accuser’s 2007 Chevrolet vehicle into Pennsylvania without permission.
Theft: A $2 can of potato chips was stolen from Circle K, 211 W. Liberty St.
Feb. 20
Theft: Christopher M. Minadeo, 20, of Clingan Street, Hubbard, was charged with theft and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle after a Christian Avenue woman reported a 19-inch flat-screen TV, a Nintendo system and other items stolen and that her car was taken without permission.
Theft: A West Park Avenue woman noticed someone had removed a 7-inch electronic tablet valued at $100 from her apartment.
Feb. 21
Harassment: An elderly Elmwood Drive man told authorities a caller claiming to be his son asked the accuser to send him $3,000 before a second person came on the line claiming to be a police officer.
Trespassing: Officers responded to an unwanted person at a state Route 304 gas station, where they charged 49-year-old Charles H. Doerr II with criminal trespassing. Doerr, of Jackson Street, Hubbard, was in the store despite having been given a warning to stay off the property, a report said.
Harassment: A Moore Street woman said her boyfriend, 20, made and sent a series of unwanted calls and text messages, then came to her home unannounced, regarding relationship problems between them.
Harassment: A Jerry Drive woman said her husband made such a statement to her during a child-custody dispute.
LIBERTY
Feb. 20
Theft: A Hubbard man reportedly took candy and a pair of sunglasses from a BP gas station, 2703 Belmont Ave.
Arrest: Police near the Liberty Plaza pulled over and took into custody Dustin L. Ruiter, 39, of Adelaide Avenue Southeast, Warren, who was wanted on a warrant from that city.
Theft: Edna L. Hector of New York Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with stealing a $400 laptop computer from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road. The 30-year-old Hector, who also was wanted on a warrant, faced additional charges of falsification and obstructing official business when, police said, she provided a false name and date of birth.
Feb. 21
Arrest: Neelisha L. Waller, 31, of Ohio Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with obstructing official business after police stopped her vehicle near the Liberty Plaza. Waller, who also was wanted on a probation-violation charge, gave officers a phony name and several false dates of birth and ages, they said.
Feb. 22
Aggravated menacing: A McDonald woman alleged a man placed a knife at her throat during an argument in the 200 block of Colonial Drive.
Feb. 23
Drugs: A traffic stop near Colonial Drive resulted in a summons charging 36-year-old Dameon D. Little of Clearmount Drive, Youngstown, with drug abuse. Little had a bag containing 6.7 grams of suspected marijuana, a report showed.
Arrest: Authorities received information about a possible car chase before charging 27-year-old Bertram L. Davis of Trumbull Avenue, Girard, with operating a vehicle impaired.
Feb. 24
Domestic violence: Dale M. Harrison, 46, of Colonial Drive, Liberty, faced domestic-violence and aggravated-menacing charges after his girlfriend alleged Harrison had pushed her down a flight of stairs and into a door while chasing after another man, who alleged Harrison had a gun and threatened to kill him.
Arrest: Youngstown police in the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue handed 20-year-old Zanah G. Hassen to township authorities. Hassen, of South Avenue, Youngstown, was wanted on a township warrant.
Feb. 25
Arrest: Authorities were dispatched to the Mahoning County jail to book 45-year-old Kerry Campbell of Townsend Avenue, Youngstown. He was wanted on a township warrant charging receiving stolen property.
Vehicular assault: Two Youngstown women reported having been hit by debris after a reckless motorist reportedly struck a post and a trash can while driving through the Liberty Plaza.
Counterfeit: Three men used three phony $20 bills to pay for merchandise at Shoe Show in the Liberty Plaza.
Feb. 26
Arrest: A traffic stop on Trumbull Avenue resulted in the arrest of Mark J. Bezeredi, 32, of Linden Avenue, Masury, on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired.
GIRARD
Feb. 23
Recovered property: A man in the 700 block of Trumbull Avenue turned over to police a cigarette box he found that contained 19 rounds of .22-caliber ammunition.
Feb. 24
Theft: A Louis Circle woman suspected a relative of taking an iPhone, numerous DVDs and other property from her residence. The loss came to about $1,450.
Counterfeit: A fake $20 bill was passed at Burger King, 322 S. State St.
Feb. 25
Harassment: An Elruth Drive man reported receiving a series of such calls and text messages, sometimes 20 to 25 daily, from another man demanding the accuser pay him as part of a business dispute.
Recovered property: An Ohio license plate was found in a parking lot in the 600 block of North State Street.
Feb. 26
Harassment: A North State Street woman said her former husband in Minnesota has been making such calls to her and her father.
Menacing: A Trumbull Avenue man told officers his girlfriend’s former husband came to the accuser’s residence and made a threatening statement before he left.
