Canfield Wrestling Club advances six to state

The Canfield Wrestling Club had six members place in the top four in their 16 man weight class. They will now compete in the Ohio Youth Wrestling Association State Meet in Akron.

Ethan Fletcher earned his first trip to the state meet with a first place performance at Fitch District. Nick Crawford, 5th in the OYWA state in 2013, captured his first District Championship. Peyton Kostelic placed second and will be going to state for the first time, as will teammates Alexander George who placed third, and Santino Marucci, who also placed third. Anthony D’Alesio finished third and will be making his third trip to the state meet.

“This is always a big weekend for the boys. Our goal is to win state championships and to do that, you have to get through a tough District at Fitch. The competition is good and a lot of boys fall short. For these six boys, they have cleared one hurdle. Now they have a bigger one next week,” said coach Dave Crawford.
