Toastmasters clubs have competition

WARREN

Toastmasters Area 13 had a speech and evaluation competition Feb. 22 with members from the Youngstown and Stow clubs.

Dena DeLuco, president of Youngstown Toastmasters Executive 408, won first place in International Speech.

Executive 408 member Alex Mangie took second.

In the Evaluation contest, Bill Ferry from the Stow club took first place, and Executive 408’s Art Byrd placed second.

DeLuco and Ferry advanced to the Division Spring Contest to be held in April.

Night sky viewing at MetroParks Farm

CANFIELD

The Mahoning Valley Astronomical Society will host March into the Sky, a “star party,” from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Mill Creek MetroParks Farm, 7574 Columbiana-Canfield Road (state Route 46).

Attendees can view the night sky through high-powered telescopes and see galaxies, star clusters, double stars, nebulae, Jupiter and more.

The star viewing will be followed be a brief presentation on the objects viewed through the telescopes.

Celestial-themed children’s crafts and refreshments will be provided.

Sky viewing is weather dependent. In case of inclement weather, presentation and crafts will be inside McMahon Hall.

Westminster choir at St. Patrick’s

YOUNGSTOWN

The Westminster College Concert Choir and Chamber Singers will perform at the next Spaghetti, Sauce and Song Concert at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Patrick Church, 1420 Oak Hill Ave.

A free-will offering will be taken.

Both groups are auditioned ensembles that have a long-standing tradition of excellence. These choirs tour annually, both in the United States and Europe.
