More Nielsen gold for NBC with Olympics

NEW YORK

NBC is celebrating its final golden week of Olympics coverage, which for another round yielded the seven most-watched telecasts, plus a bonus: An eighth prime-time broadcast from Sochi, aired Sunday, also landed in last week’s Top 10.

Nielsen said Monday was NBC’s biggest night, seen by more than 23.6 million viewers to be the week’s No. 1 program.

The least-followed Olympics coverage, on Saturday, placed seventh for the week, drawing 13.2 million viewers.

“Sochi Gold,” aired before Sunday’s closing ceremonies, ranked ninth with 12.7 million viewers.

Meyers’ ratings top Fallon’s debut

Nielsen says Seth Meyers is off to a good start hosting NBC’s “Late Night.”

The premiere of “Late Night with Seth Meyers” averaged 3.4 million viewers in “fast official” ratings from Nielsen. NBC says that’s the biggest audience for a Monday “Late Night” in nine years. The network says it also beat the 2009 debut of “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” by more than a half-million viewers.

Disney launches digital-movies app

LOS ANGELES

Disney is launching a digital-movies app that allows fans to store movie purchases online and play them back over Apple devices and computers.

The launch of Disney Movies Anywhere coincides with the release of hit film “Frozen” on digital platforms. Users who link the app account to Apple’s iTunes digital store will receive a free copy of “The Incredibles.”
