CANFIELD

The city has issued a precautionary boil-water order for residents of Talsman Drive from Hilltop Boulevard to Montgomery Drive until 1 p.m. today.

Water for drinking, cooking and oral hygiene should be boiled for at least one minute before use. Any resident experiencing discolored water also should consider following the boil order. Canfield has no evidence the water system was contaminated, but is advising residents to use this precautionary measure, according to a city news release.

Joanie Abdu center listed among best

The Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center, affiliated with St. Elizabeth Health Center, is one of America’s Best Breast Care Centers, according to Women’s Choice, which identifies services women most recommend and trust.

“At St. Elizabeth Health Center, we are deeply honored and very proud that the nation’s premier women’s marketing, evaluation and referral service has selected the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center to be the [Mahoning] Valley’s first recipient of the Women’s Choice Award,” said Don Koenig, executive vice president of operations, Humility of Mary Health Partners.

Dr. Rashid Abdu was the driving force behind development of the center, inspired by his wife, Joanie, who died of breast cancer in 1994.

Firefighters sworn in, one promoted

YOUNGSTOWN

The fire department swore in two new firefighters Tuesday and promoted another firefighter from lieutenant to captain.

Sworn in as firefighters were Patrick Holcomb and Zackary Whinery. Craig Tershel was promoted to captain.

Chief John O’Neill said the two new hires are to replace firefighters who retired, and Tershel is also replacing a captain who retired.
