“Frontline” (9 p.m., PBS): The latest edition of “Frontline” delves into “The Secrets of the Vatican.” It examines the reasons Pope Benedict XVI stepped down and the work of Pope Francis to set the Catholic Church on a new path.

“Amish Mafia” (9 p.m., Discovery): Before being sent to sleep with the fishes, victims are wrapped in a homey, handmade quilt.

“Rizzoli & Isles” (9 p.m., TNT): It looks like tonight’s season premiere really isn’t going to do anything good for my (totally rational) fear of clowns.

“Mind Games” (10 p.m., ABC): Steve Zahn and series-kiss-of-death Christian Slater star in a more accessible new drama than usual from former Austinite Kyle Killen (“Awake”).

“Game of Arms” (10 p.m., AMC): Reality TV meets competitive arm wrestling. If someone announces a show called, “Tag, You’re It,” I am officially declaring the genre played out.

“Perception” (10 p.m., TNT): A new season kicks off tonight.
