Memory lane, luminaries will honor school’s finish

Staff report

MINERAL RIDGE

The middle school building at 3750 N. Main St., has housed thousands of students since it was built 89 years ago. It was dedicated in 1925, and the last day that students will attend will be June 11.

The Mineral Ridge Historical Society wants to commemorate the school’s years of service at Take a Walk Down Memory Lane, from 6 to 8 p.m. March 6 at the school.

The society is selling luminaries to line the sidewalks up to the school. Forms to buy luminaries will be available in the entranceway or main lobby of the Farmers National Bank, 3826 Main St. Forms also will be sent home with all Weathersfield students.

The luminaries cost $5 each, and they’ll be sold through Feb. 28.

The school will be open during the event for a walk-through and refreshments. Old class pictures and yearbooks will be displayed along with old film strips converted to DVD.

If the school building is closed because of a snow day, the event will be postponed to March 13.
