Food for fines planned at library

NEWTON FALLS

Those who owe fines for overdue materials or are just feeling generous can donate nonperishable food to the Newton Falls Public Library’s Food for Fines Drive.

In exchange for the food, the library will forgive overdue fines. The drive will run from March 3 to March 29. To clear fines, donate items to the staff at the circulation desk at the library, 204 S. Canal St.

Only nonperishable items will be accepted. The following will not be accepted: glass containers; opened, dented, or expired items; alcoholic beverages; and candy. Donations cannot be put toward bills for lost and/or damaged library materials.

All items brought in will be donated to local food banks.
