Police: Bizarre 911 calls lead to a pot discovery

MODESTO, Calif.

Authorities say a series of bizarre and false emergency calls led them to the discovery of a marijuana garden in a Northern California home.

Modesto police spokeswoman Heather Graves says 47-year-old Victor Jasinsky first called 911 at 3:42 a.m. last Monday to report that a nearby house was on fire, then six hours later to say intruders were in his home.

Next, Jaskinsky’s neighbor called on his behalf to say two women were being held hostage in Jasinsky’s home. Then, Jasinsky called at 7:45 p.m., to report that a man had been shot. Authorities responded to every call.

The Modesto Bee reported that on the last call, officers searched Jasinsky’s home and found a marijuana garden inside.

He was arrested on suspicion of cultivating marijuana and filing false reports.

Officers believe Jasinsky was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The agency did not release the woman’s name.

A Neighboring house had roof and siding damage when it was clipped by the falling tree.

Pa. judge chides couple for offensive jury summons

SCRANTON, Pa.

A northeastern Pennsylvania couple have been cited for contempt of court for sending back a jury questionnaire filled with profanity, crude language and racial slurs.

A Lackawanna County judge cited 25-year-old Tina Keller and 23-year-old Drayke Jacobs-Van-Tol. That landed the Taylor couple a court date Tuesday. Judge Vito Geroulo dismissed the contempt citation but warned that the pair could have spent up to six months in jail for what he called the most “intentionally disrespectful” jury form he’d ever seen.

Keller said she let her fiance fill out her summons and she didn’t look it over before sending it in. Both of them apologized to the judge.
