Loaded handgun found in Campbell

CAMPBELL — A Blossom Avenue resident reported finding a loaded handgun while walking through a wooded area on Whipple Avenue between Sixth and 10th streets.

According to the report, the man found the handgun at about 2:40 p.m. Sunday, then picked it up with a gloved hand to see if it was real — which he determined it was. He contacted police shortly afterward.

Police retrieved the handgun. The handgun had a loaded magazine in it with 15 live rounds.

Police also determined that the gun was not stolen, and are planning to follow up on the matter.

The handgun might be related to another incident that occurred a few days prior, during which three individuals fled from police and dropped their weapons in the area.
