Goodwill auction to feature vintage, valuable collectibles

The annual Antique and Collectible Auction sponsored by the Junior Group of Goodwill is planned for March 7 and 8 at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave.

This 21st annual event will benefit Goodwill’s job training and employment services for people with disabilities and other barriers to employment in Mahoning, Trumbull, Columbiana, Mercer and Lawrence counties. George Roman Auctioneers will preside.

Sponsoring the auction this year are Aim NationaLease, Gasser Chair Co, Yurchyk & Davis CPAs, USI Insurance, Republic Services, PNC Bank, Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley, Fleming NationaLease, Simon Roofing, Vallourec Star, Farmers Trust Co., On Demand Drug Testing and Austintown Plaza LTD.

The event kicks off with a patron party from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. March 7. Festivities include a collectible jewelry sale featuring several thousand pre-priced pieces, an auction of new items such as Disney Park passes, sports tickets, fine jewelry and much more.

The event includes a basket raffle, silent auction, basket auction, 50-50 raffle, vintage clothing sale, hors d’oeuvres, pastries and a cash bar. Some of the jewelry that will be available includes a yellow and white 14K link bracelet, gold chains and pendants, rings with sapphires and cubic zirconia, wedding bands, tennis bracelets, vintage Monet necklaces and bracelets and more. At 8 p.m., there will be a live auction of new items that were donated by area businesses.

The ticket price for the Friday patron party is $25 per person and can be bought at the Goodwill offices on Belmont Ave., Liberty, at any of the eight area Goodwill stores, or through Goodwill’s website at www.goodwillyoungstown.org. Tickets must be bought in advance, and the deadline is March 3. After the deadline, tickets will cost $30 if they still are available. Those who buy a ticket for March 7 will get in free March 8 with the ticket stub.

March 8 will feature the antique and collectible auction of items collected through Goodwill donations. The preview for the auction will begin at 10 a.m., and the auction will begin at 11. The collectible jewelry sale will open at 10 a.m.

Admission is $2 at the door. The auction will feature many collectibles and antiques such as furniture, dolls, pictures and frames, cameras, loaded jewelry boxes, silver plate, vintage toys, Blenko glass and much more.
