Sarah Bender, Townsend Smith are engaged

SALEM

Lee and Judi Bender of Salem are announcing the engagement of their daughter, Sarah Jane Bender of Salem, and Townsend Emerson Smith of Columbiana. His parents are Linda Smith of Salem and Tim Smith of Boardman.

The couple are planning an afternoon wedding Oct. 4 in Boardman Park.

A reception will follow at the Blue Wolf Banquet Hall in Boardman.

Invitations will be issued for both.

The bride-elect earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary and special education from Westminster College. She is a special education teacher at Youngstown Christian School.

Her fiancé attended Bowling Green State University. He is a buyer’s assistant at Giant Eagle Inc. in Harmony, Pa.
