Hubbard woman faces drug charges

Staff report

CAMPBELL

City police arrested a Hubbard woman on multiple drug charges — including one that is a felony — after police said they found more than a dozen pills in her car during a traffic stop.

Kelly A. Deegan, 43, of Elizabeth Street, was charged with possession of drugs, a felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She also was cited for not having a valid driver’s license, failing to properly signal her turn, and having objects blocking her rearview mirror.

When police stopped Deegan on 16th Street shortly after 7 p.m. Wednesday for the traffic violations, they immediately noticed her leaning over the center console and placing something between the seats.

Officers questioned her about the action, and she replied that she had been grabbing her drink, though she didn’t have one near her, reports say.

Deegan later admitted, when asked if she had anything illegal on her or in the car, that she had some Percoset, according to police.

Police said they found 14 of the pills in her pocket and in a cigarette box stuffed between the driver’s seat and the center console.

They also found a pill cutter/crusher with white pill residue and a plastic pipe with white pill residue, reports say.

Deegan is set to appear today on the drug charges and traffic citations in Campbell Municipal Court.
