Austintown considers intimate apparel, drop-off box proposals

AUSTINTOWN

Austintown Township Zoning Commission has approved two proposals to regulate intimate-apparel shops and donation drop-off boxes.

The board also approved a recommendation by the Mahoning County Planning Commission to change the title of “intimate- apparel shops” to “intimate- apparel and adult-product shops.”

Since the shops have a conditional use, the owners have to go through the zoning board of appeals for approval, and the board could suggest some adult items be put in a back room.

The proposal for donation drop-off boxes requires authorization to place the box by the owner of the property and a zoning permit.

The landowner would be responsible for the box upkeep, and the boxes must remain 60 feet from the roadway.
