MCCTC hosts skills competition event Saturday

CANFIELD — Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, 7300 N. Palmyra Road, will host the 2014 SkillsUSA Northeast Regional Championship Competition on Saturday.

Career and technical students from more than 16 schools throughout the Northeast Region will showcase their skills in more than 26 different competitions. The competitive events will be from 8 to 11 a.m. and awards will be distributed at 12:30 p.m.

The students are competing for a chance to advance to the SkillsUSA Ohio Championships in Columbus on April 15-16. The top three medal winners in each category will represent the region at the state level competition, where they will then vie for the opportunity to represent Ohio at the National Leadership and Skills Conference in Kansas City in June.
