Kupensky, Fiala to present concert

LIBERTY

Kirk Kupensky, harpist, and the Rev. Vit Fiala, cellist, will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Unity Centre for Spiritual Living, 1226 Naylor Lloyd Road.

The concert, which has been rescheduled from its original date of Jan. 10, is titled “A Harp in Winter.” Kupensky is the music director of Unity Centre, and Father Fiala is director of Shrine of Our Lady, Comforter of the Afficted, in Youngstown.

Kupensky has made numerous appearances as a recitalist and concerto soloist in the U.S. and in Europe.

Father Fiala has played with the National Opera and Chamber Players, both of Brno, the capital of Moravia, and the Aus Symphony Orchestra in Prague, both in Czechoslovakia. He also was the concert master of the symphony in Prague.

The Unity Centre for Spiritual Living is open to all denominations. The performance is free, but donations will be accepted. For information, call 330-539-0122 or go to unitycentre.org.

Band group offers dinner, auction

CANFIELD

The Canfield Band Parents’ annual pasta dinner and silent auction will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Canfield High School cafeteria. Tickets are $7 ($5 for children), and dinners also will be available for carry-out. Dozens of items will be up for bid in the auction, and students in the Canfield Band programs at both the high school and middle school will perform.

Art’s Alive event at Winner center

SHARON, PA.

The second annual Art’s Alive in the Dead of Winter will be Friday from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Winner Arts & Culture Center, 98 E. State St., downtown.

All three floors will be filled with art, food and music. There will be works from more than 80 regional artisans, plus music by Rick Bruckner, James Willaman, John Sailor, Mike Cummings and Brandon Vuich, and Robert Malaniak of Pipe Dreams.

Food vendors will include Quaker Steak & Lube, Tiffany’s Banquet Hall, The Corinthian Banquet Hall and Donna’s Diner.
