UM church plans Swiss steak dinner
CANFIELD
Canfield United Methodist Church, 27 S. Broad St., will host a Swiss steak dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The Adult Mission Team is sponsoring the dinner, and proceeds will support the team’s spring mission trip to Moore, Okla., which was devastated by tornadoes in 2013.
The menu includes mashed potatoes, green beans, applesauce, coleslaw, rolls and cherry desserts. The cost is $10, and carryouts will be available. There are no advance sales.
The mission team consists of about 25 members and includes participants from United Methodist churches in Lisbon, East Liverpool, Niles and Canfield.
Church will sponsor preschool open house
CANFIELD
Canfield United Methodist Church Preschool (CUMP), 27 S. Broad St., will sponsor an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday.
The preschool offers classes for ages 3 through 5. Prospective students and their families can tour the facilities, learn about the educational program and meet the teachers. Registration information will be available. For information call the preschool at 330-533-9802.
Salem society is seeking nominations
SALEM
The Salem Historical Society, 208 S. Broadway Ave., is seeking nominations for its 2014 Citizen of Honor awards.
The award honors Salem-connected citizens, from the past to present, who have distinguished themselves with service to their community, their career, and/or their country. The awards will be announced during the Founders’ Day program in April.
Any field of accomplishment can be considered and should be described fully. Involvement in the community and other activities should be included. For information or to obtain an application, contact the museum, 330-337-8514 or TheSalemHistoricalSociety@gmail.com.
Completed nominations must be submitted to the society by March 1. Nominations will be kept on file for present and future consideration. Mail them to the society, attention to Citizens of Honor Committee.
