DUI charge filed against man

YOUNGSTOWN

A man with 15 open suspensions on his license was charged with driving under the influence early Friday morning after reports said his blood-alcohol content registered more than three times the legal limit for driving drunk.

Police were called to the 1400 block of Victor Avenue on the East Side about 10:10 p.m. Thursday where a woman told them a car that had been speeding up and down the street had hit her car while someone was trying to back it out of a driveway.

In the street, police found Leartis C. Day, 46, of West Hylda Avenue, who was staring at the sky, reports said. He told officers he did not have a driver’s license, and a records check showed the suspensions.

He was taken to the police station for a breath test, which he took at 12:10 a.m. Friday, two hours after police were called. He registered a 0.245 reading. The legal limit for driving drunk in Ohio is 0.08.
