BOARDMAN

The eighth annual Cattle Baron’s Ball, sponsored by the American Cancer Society, will take place from 7 to 11 p.m. March 15 at Antone’s Banquet Centre, 8578 Market St.

The event will be western-themed and will include gourmet dining, live and silent auctions, music by Joey K. and other activities.

Joe Mineo, founder of Something New Florist, will be the master of ceremonies. A VIP celebration for honorees and sponsors will take place from 6 to 7 p.m.

Cancer survivors who will be honored this year are Anita Lin, former executive artistic director of Ballet Western Reserve, and Jared Brauer, a survivor of childhood leukemia and now a staff partner at the American Cancer Society.

Dr. Robert Marx, a surgeon at ValleyCare Northside Medical Center, also will be honored for his medical contributions.

Funds raised will support the American Cancer Society in its mission to save lives by reducing cancer risks or by finding it early, helping those with the disease with information and support during and after their diagnosis, and finding cures through investment in ground-breaking research. It also encourages lawmakers to pass laws to help defeat cancer and rallies communities worldwide in the fight against cancer.

The event is made possible through the support of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Bruno of Canfield and Something New Florist.

Carole Weimer and Sandy Zians are chairwomen of the event, and co-chairwomen are Annette Camacci and Kathie Weinberg.
