YOUNGSTOWN
The Victorian Players will present the comedy “Sandbag, Stage Left,” opening Friday and running for three consecutive weekends.
The cast includes 21 WFMJ-TV personalities Glenn Stevens, as the defense attorney, and Regina Reynolds, as the prosecuting attorney. The defendant is played by Carl Brockway. Andy Bresko plays the judge, Mike Brady plays the bailiff, and Chuck Cavanaugh plays the guard. Witnesses are Ed Crepage, Anita Weinstock, Stephanie Sarrach, Jamie BuCher, Tom and Linda Hathhorn, C. Richard Haldi, Brandi Hughes, Patricia Fagan and Glenda Young.
Directing is Marlene Menaldi Strollo,
“Sandbag” is a parody of serious courtroom dramas such as “Witness for the Prosecution,” “Twelve Angry Men” and “Night of January 16th.”
It is set at a local community theater, where the actors are beside themselves over the mysterious death of their leading lady who, during a performance of “Hello, Dolly,” was crushed by a falling sandbag. All fingers point to her husband, and mud-slinging runs rampant between the attorneys as witnesses take the stand.
Performance times are 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $12 general admission ($9 for senior citizens and students). For reservations, call 330-746-5455.
