Here’s a look at the life of Shirley Temple, who died Monday at age 85:

v Golden curls: Her mother was said to have done her hair for each movie, with every hairstyle having exactly 56.

v Santa fan: At age 6, “Mother took me to see him in a department store and he asked for my autograph.”

v Sweet drink: The kid’s cocktail for the ages: ginger ale and grenadine, topped with a maraschino cherry.

v How she learned to cry on cue: “I would go to a quiet part of the sound stage with my mother. I wouldn’t think of anything sad, I would just make my mind a blank. In a minute I could cry.”

v Wicked: The reason she didn’t play Dorothy in “The Wizard of Oz” is because 20th Century Fox chief Darryl Zanuck refused to lend her out for the 1939 classic.

Singer-songwriter on Vindy talk radio

Briar Rabbit, a singer-songwriter and the nephew of blues great B.B. King, will be a guest on Vindy Talk Radio today at 3 p.m. The musician is touring the country to promote his new CD “From Your Bones.” He will talk about his music and perform during the show, which can be streamed on vindy.com.

Stambaugh series offers ‘Impresario’

The Opera Western Reserve Young Artists will present Mozart’s “The Impresario” at 12:30 p.m. March 9 in Stambaugh Auditorium’s Grand Ballroom. The event is part of the Sundays at Stambaugh event and includes a catered lunch before.

Robert Pierce is the director, and Jan Crews is musical director. The cast includes Emily Alcorn, Lauren Corcoran, Jan Crews and Robert Pierce.

The Opera Western Reserve Young Artists perform at local schools. Their regular programs include Fun with Opera, which is an interactive performance where students help to create improvised opera.

“The Impresario,” written in 1786, is a one-act comedy that provides a window into the world of theater — including the outlandish characters’ auditions for a play within the opera.

Maggie Gyllenhaal in Broadway debut

Maggie Gyllenhaal will make her Broadway debut this fall opposite Ewan McGregor in “The Real Thing.”

Roundabout Theatre Co. said Tuesday that Gyllenhaal and McGregor will play illicit lovers in the revival of Tom Stoppard’s play about relationships and fidelity. Sam Gold will direct.

Previews begin Oct. 2, and it will open officially Oct. 30 at the American Airlines Theatre.
