600 vets go for military ID cards in first 3 days

WARREN

The Trumbull County Recorder’s Office has provided 600 military veterans with identification cards during the first three days they were offered.

Trumbull County Recorder Diana Marchese said the number of veterans who have come to the county administration building on Courthouse Square to obtain one has surprised her.

“I thought we would be busy, but it’s more than we expected,” she said. “We’re glad they’re taking advantage of it.”

Marchese said veterans have told her the cards enable them to get discounts at home-improvement stores, restaurants and on travel.

Without such a card, veterans typically have to carry their discharge papers with them, which is inconvenient and could damage their documents, she said.

The cards are still available for free, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays at 160 High St. NW.
