Szabo’s 598 set leads Lakeview

Lakeview’s Valerie Szabo rolled a three-game total of 598 to finish first individual and help the Bulldogs capture the team title at Sunday’s Division II sectional bowling tournament at Mahoning Valley Lanes.
Szabo rolled a 194 in the first game, followed by a 193 and a 211 to edge McDonald’s Breanna Burk (234-151-193) and Hubbard’s Miranda Romano (202-182-194) by 20 pins.
Lakeview finished with 3,401 pins, while Hubbard was second with 3,355. Girard (3,243) took third, followed by Cardinal Mooney (2,980) and Struthers (2,946). The top five teams earned berths in next week’s district tournament in Akron.
Girard’s Alexis Cloud (573) and Mackenzie Olesky (540) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
Burk earned one of four at-large bids, as did Lowellville’s Kathryn Grope (sixth overall with a 539), Liberty’s Alexis Ramsey (seventh, 538) and McDonald’s Nina Dunn (ninth, 516).
Mooney’s Clara Angeloff (eighth, 536) and Lakeview’s Lauren Kachurik (10th, 516) also finished in the top 10.
Niles placed sixth in the team standings with 2,920, followed by Champion (2,846), LaBrae (2,824), Liberty (2,814), McDonald (2,784), Lowellville (2,771), Ursuline (2,686), Mineral Ridge (2,435), Brookfield (2,367), Maplewood (2,318), Wellsville (2,289) and Warren JFK (2,240).
