Pa. couple plead guilty to robbing FBI informant

ERIE, Pa. (AP) — A northwestern Pennsylvania couple have pleaded guilty to charges they robbed an FBI informant of $2,800 in government funds and an audio-transmission device after one of them allegedly found out a drug deal was an undercover ruse.

Federal prosecutors say 19-year-old Elijah Sherrod, of Erie, was recruited to rob the informant by his co-defendant, 22-year-old Latisha Palochak. Investigators say Palochak somehow learned that the July 16 deal to purchase two ounces of cocaine was a government sting, so she had Sherrod show up to rob the informant of the buy money and the device used to broadcast the audio of the transaction to agents.

But federal authorities say the robbery was still recorded on surveillance video.

The couple pleaded guilty Monday before a federal judge in Erie, who will sentence them June 9.
