School dean charged with corruption of minors

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (AP) — A high school dean in northeastern Pennsylvania is charged with corruption of minors.

Stephen Stahl, 47, of Hunlock Creek surrendered at a district magistrate’s office in Wilkes-Barre today and was arraigned on a single charge of corruption of minors.

Stahl is the dean of students at Coughlin High School. He’s also the wrestling coach.

Police say he had a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old girl almost 10 years ago after seeing her in a school hallway and complimenting her appearance.

Court documents say Stahl had sex with the teen in a classroom closet, a school photography dark room, motels and Stahl’s home.

A preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 27.

Stahl’s attorney, Peter Paul Olszewski, said he could not immediately comment on the case.
