Indiana’s Stewart blanks Phantoms

INDIANAPOLIS
Indiana Ice goaltender Hayden Stewart stopped all 17 shots he faced in blanking the Youngstown Phantoms, 3-0, on Saturday night.
They buried their chances, and we didn’t bury ours,” Phantoms head coach Anthony Noreen said. “It was a sloppy game — I don’t think the ice conditions were very good.
“Both teams obviously had tough travel,” Noreen said. “Bottom line-they got their chances, and buried them.”
Brian Pinho put the Ice ahead with a short-handed goal midway through the first period.
Tyler Pham made it 2-0 in the second period. His goal was set up by Tyler Andrew and Joe Sullivan.
Sam Kurker’s unassisted goal in the third period made it 3-0.
“[Stewart] was very good,” Noreen said. “He stops a breakaway [Kyle Connor] with 10 seconds left in the second period that could have made it a one-goal game, and he made a big glove save on [Tyler Spezia].” Phantoms goaltender Sean Romeo made 22 saves.
Neither team scored with the man-advantage.
