DAR chapter will celebrate 120 years

CANFIELD

Mahoning Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will celebrate its 120th anniversary Monday.

The celebration will take place at noon at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St.

Rachel Wick Taylor, the first Mahoning Chapter regent, and 14 charter members met Feb. 10, 1894, to become the second Ohio chapter and the 64th of the National Organization of the DAR.

Guests will include Sandra McCann, the Ohio Society DAR state regent; Nancy Wright, the state vice regent; and Mary Chase, the Northeast director.

Another notable will be Lt. Col. Rod Hosler, retired commander of the ROTC, Youngstown State University.

“The Role of First Ladies in DAR” will be presented by the Salem Preservation Society.
