Fitch football team garners statewide academic honors

The Ohio High School Football Coaches Association has recognized Chuck Zaborsky of the Austintown Fitch Falcons as a member of the 2013 Academic All Ohio football team. Only 106 student athletes from more than 35,000 players throughout Ohio were recognized for this award. To qualify, the honoree must be First Team All Conference or First Team All County or First Team All District in combination with exemplary academic performance. Zaborsky was a First Team All State selection as well.

Also recognized for academic excellence by the OHSFCA was the Fitch football team. To qualify, the grade point average of the top 22 lettermen for each team were averaged and ranked. Fitch’s 3.67 combined average placed them 21st statewide. 40 of the 715 eligible high schools throughout Ohio earned the honor of Academic All Ohio.

In 2012, the team’s 3.68 placed Fitch athletes in the top 20 statewide.
