Campbell police arrest man on three charges

A 19-year-old Campbell man was arrested on three charges after his grandfather came to the Campbell Police Department early Friday and told city police he was being threatened by him and needed emergency help.

Samuel Michael Horvath, of Gladstone Street, was charged with disrupting public service, a fourth-degree felony; domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor; and resisting arrest, a second-degree misdemeanor.

Shortly after midnight Friday, Horvath’s grandfather, who also lives at the Gladstone Street residence, told police that Horvath was going crazy and becoming violent.

The grandfather said he’d told Horvath to retrieve an item from the garage at the residence, and that Horvath had been in there for a long time. When he went to investigate, he noticed that the steering wheel lock on his car had been damaged.

When the grandfather confronted Horvath about it, Horvath became enraged and disconnected the residence’s telephone wires from their ports, telling his grandfather that he wouldn’t allow him to call 911.

The grandfather then snuck out of the house and drove to the Campbell Police Department.

Police went to the residence, and Horvath showed up there not long afterward. He told police that he was scared he would be going to jail, then fled and hid in the woods behind the residence, because “he is always getting blamed for everything,” according to the report.

When police attempted to arrest Horvath, he began to jerk, kick and flail. Police finally got him under control, and transported him to the Mahoning County jail.
