Two accused of contraband smuggling at Campbell police department

CAMPBELL

Two men already in police custody were caught on camera smuggling a suspected marijuana cigarette, and now face additional charges for the contraband.

According to the police report, Sgt. John Rusnak, who was watching the screen monitor of the police department’s booking room shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday, saw Samuel A. Buxton, 22, of Monroe Street in Campbell, mess with something, then throw the item to Eddie Pierce III, 22, of Kirk Road in Austintown.

Another officer then intervened, and when Pierce stood up, the white suspected marijuana cigarette fell from his right pant leg.

Buxton, who was being booked by police for a probation violation, has also been charged with illegal conveyance of drugs into a detention facility — a third-degree felony.

Pierce was also charged with possession of drugs, a first-degree misdemeanor.

Both Buxton and Pierce are set to appear in Campbell Municipal Court at 9 a.m. Friday.
