WARREN
The 28th Annual Trumbull County Women’s History Celebration will take place March 22 at Packard Music Hall, 1703 Mahoning Ave. NW.
This year the event will be a luncheon catered by Saratoga Restaurant and Catering. Doors will open at 11 a.m., and the event will begin at noon.
Esther Gartland is serving as chairwoman of the women’s history celebration. Paid reservations are due by March 8, and tickets cost $25 per person. To buy tickets call E. Carol Maxwell at 330-360-0901 or email her at maxec226@gmail.com.
The program will be “The Trial of Susan B. Anthony.” On Nov. 5, 1872, Anthony and 15 of her female friends voted in the national election, considered to be outrageous behavior.
Richard Crowley, a prosecuting attorney, was assigned to punish her and maybe put an end to the suffrage movement. Actor Hank Fincken will portray Crowley. Fincken has toured Europe, South America and the United States as a living history performer for more than 20 years.
Through role-playing, participants will recreate the trial as the prosecutor attempts to convince all attendees that it is not the right time to allow women to vote.
