History discussions to open in Salem

SALEM

The Salem Historical Society is launching a new program, a discussion opportunity the first Wednesday of each month in the form of History in the Round.

Residents can gather and share information about a local topic of interest, which the participants may suggest.

The first opportunity will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the meeting room of the Dale Shaffer Research Library, 239 South Lundy Ave. The suggested topic for the first session will center on two popular candy stores of Salem; Scott’s and Hendrick’s, which have provided treats to Salem residents for years.

Those with special memories or information about these local businesses are encouraged to attend. Society President David Shivers will host the first session. Coffee and other refreshments will be provided. For information call 330-337-8514.
