No skating at pond

Mill Creek Metroparks closed the Lily Pond to ice skaters Sunday because of higher temperatures over the weekend that weakened the ice. It will remain closed until further notice.
“The safety of our visitors is of the utmost importance, and we are hoping that below-freezing temperatures over the next week will permit us to open the Lily Pond to skaters next weekend,” the MetroParks said in a news release.
Downtown fighting ends with arrest
YOUNGSTOWN
Stephanie Woods, 23, of Boardman, was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest early Sunday near Silver’s Vogue Shop on West Federal Street after police said they observed her involved in three fights.
Police saw her on top of another female, hitting her, and police broke it up, telling everyone to leave.
But a short time later, about 2:23 a.m., officers saw her start a second fight with a different female, which bystanders stopped. Officers then saw her start a third fight and hit the window of the Vogue Shop with her hand, causing the alarm to sound.
Police attempted to arrest her, but she resisted. Officers put her on the ground, which caused a crowd of people to surround officers and yell for her to be released.
Officers ordered Bryndon Rutland, 24, of Youngstown, to step away and pushed him away, but he kept coming back, so he was charged with disorderly conduct.
Eddie Pierce, 22, of Youngstown, also was charged with disorderly conduct for refusing to leave the area.
