Phantoms rally past Dubuque

DUBUQUE, IOWA

Kyle Connor had a goal and two assists and the Youngstown Phantoms rallied to beat the Dubuque Saints 5-3 in a United States Hockey League game on Saturday night.

J.J. Piccinich and Josh Melnick each added a goal and an assist for the Phantoms (9-24-5, 23 points), who trailed 2-1 after the first period.

Kiefer Sherwood scored the game’s final goal at the 14:49 mark of the third period to seal the win for Youngstown.

The win snapped a six-game losing streak for the Phantoms, who last won on Jan. 11 when they defeated Team USA 6-3.

Sean Romeo stopped 27 shots to get the win in goal and Lukas Klok, Luke Stork, and Trey Bradley also had assists for the Phantoms.

Robby Darrar and Max McHugh each scored first-period goals for Dubuque (25-11-1, 51 points), while Alexx Privitera added a goal in the third period.

Benjamin Richardson added 18 saves.
