Jennings center to host bird-count event

SLIPPERY ROCK, PA.
A Great Backyard Bird Count event will be offered at Jennings Environmental Education Center, 2951 Prospect Road, from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 15.
The GBBC is an annual event that encourages citizens to help scientists gather data on the biodiversity of birds. The count is integrated with eBird, an online global checklist program, so that anyone in the world with an Internet connection can participate.
The Jennings event will include a workshop and indoor observation session and is designed for individuals age 10 and up who share an interest in birds. The free event is recommended for teachers and youth leaders who wish to involve their students in citizen science projects.
Enrollment is limited; participants must register no later than Feb. 12 at www.apps.dcnr.state.pa.us/Calendar/, or by calling 724-794-6011.
