Woman stabbed

with kitchen knife

YOUNGSTOWN

Police say a 22-year-old woman was stabbed in the face and chest about 2:50 p.m. Thursday by a woman who was baby-sitting for her.

Reports said the victim had argued with the baby sitter the day before because she thought the sitter had taken $50 from her to support the sitter’s drug habit.

When the victim went to pick up her child Thursday at a home in the 1300 block of Dogwood Lane, the two argued over the $50, and the victim was stabbed with a kitchen knife, reports said.

Reports did not say if the 22-year-old was treated at the scene or taken to a hospital, but officers could see cuts on her face and chest.

No arrest had been made as of late Friday. The detective division is investigating.

Man faces charges

CAMPBELL

A 49-year-old Poland man faces several charges — including possession of drug paraphernalia — after being stopped by city police for failing to stop at a stop sign and properly signal his turn.

Shortly after 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, police pulled over Charles W. Rhoads III, of East Western Reserve Road, on Madison Avenue.

Police discovered Rhoads had a suspended driver’s license and placed him under arrest.

While searching Rhoads’ van, they found a chrome-colored pipe with burnt edges and two oval white pills, identified as a drug typically used to treat epilepsy and relieve neuropathic pain.

Rhoads was cited for possessing drug paraphernalia, for not having a required prescription label, and for driving while under suspension. He also was cited for the two traffic offenses.

Beagles improving

YOUNGSTOWN

Two beagles given to Angels for Animals this week after complaints about how they were being kept outside in frigid weather are in foster homes and improving.

Lisa Hill with Angels for Animals said both dogs are being treated for heartworm, ear infections and are in need of dental work.

The younger dog is about 6 years old, and he will be adopted by the family that is fostering him, Hill said. The other dog is 12.

Hill said the older dog will be in foster care for a while because it will take longer to treat him. Anyone interested in adopting can go to Angels for Animals, 4750 W. South Range Road, Green Township, to fill out an application.

The dogs were kept in cages in a Stocker Avenue home on the East Side but were turned over to humane agents by their owner Monday because of all the complaints he had been receiving on social media about keeping them outside.
