Saints blast Phantoms

DUBUQUE, IOWA

Karson Kuhlman and Seamus Malone scored power-play goals to lead the Dubuque Fighting Saints to a 7-3 victory over the Youngstown Phantoms on Friday night.

Kuhlman’s goal late in the first period was set up by Robby Darrar and Alexx Privitera.

After Dylan Gambrell scored an even-strength goal early in the second period, Malone’s goal made it 3-0.

Phantoms defenseman Lukas Klok scored midway through the second period to slice Dubuque’s lead to two goals.

But the Fighting Saints scored three more times before period ended for a 6-1 advantage.

In the third period, Kyle Connor and Tyler Spezia scored the Phantoms’ other goals. Both were unassisted.

Sean Romeo took the loss in goal, stopping 13 shots and allowing five goals. Colin DeAugustine relieved him and made 10 saves.

Kevin Reich stopped 14 of the Phantoms’ 17 shots.

The Phantoms and Fighting Saints meet again tonight.
