2 men mistakenly released from Trumbull jail 2 days early

Two men sentenced to the Trumbull County jail by Judge Philip Vigorito of Newton Falls Municipal Court were mistakenly released from the jail Friday but recovered a short time later and returned to the jail.

Sheriff Thomas Altiere said the two men, both in jail on misdemeanor offenses, had gotten about a half-block north of the jail on Mahoning Avenue before a deputy found them and brought them back.

The court had indicated the two men should be released, but a few minutes later called back and said the men actually still needed to serve two more days, Altiere said.
