DUI charge in crash

LOS ANGELES

A Las Vegas man has been charged with crashing into Jennifer Lopez’s Rolls Royce in Malibu, Calif., while drunk.

Los Angeles County prosecutors said in a statement Monday that 53-year-old Robert John Reitz was charged with misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and driving at nearly twice the legal blood-alcohol limit. He could get six months in jail and a $1,000 fine if he’s convicted.

The singer-actress was stopped at a traffic light with her two children and actress Leah Remini in September when a pickup truck hit her vehicle from behind. No one was hurt.

‘Screech’ posts bail

PORT WASHINGTON, Wis.

Dustin Diamond, the actor who played Screech in the 1990s television show “Saved by the Bell,” appeared in a Wisconsin courtroom Monday after posting bail on charges that he stabbed a man during a bar fight on Christmas.

Diamond, who spent the weekend in jail, posted $10,000 bail before his hearing in Ozaukee County Circuit Court. A criminal complaint charges Diamond with second-degree recklessly endangering safety, disorderly conduct and carrying a concealed weapon.

Defense attorney Thomas Alberti requested reduced bail and a jury trial for Diamond, 37, who did not speak in court.

The complaint says Diamond and his fiancee got into a tussle with two men and a woman at the Grand Avenue Saloon in Port Washington, where Diamond lives.

Diamond told police he accidentally stabbed one of the men while trying to defend his fiancee. The man was not seriously injured. Police say officers recovered a switchblade.

Diamond’s next court hearing is set for Monday.
