A checklist of local, state and federal institutions and local businesses closed various days for New Year’s. Residents of communities not listed should check their governmental office schedules.

City offices: Newton Falls Municipal Court, closing noon Wednesday and closed Thursday; Youngstown, Warren, Salem, Sharon, closed Thursday; Niles, New Castle, closed Thursday and Friday.

County offices: Mahoning, closed Wednesday and Thursday; Trumbull, closing at noon at Wednesday, closed Thursday; Columbiana, Mercer, Lawrence, closed Thursday.

All State offices: Ohio Bureau of Job and Family Services offices, closed Thursday.

Federal offices: U.S. Post Office, Youngstown and Warren, Federal Bankruptcy Court, District Court, closed Thursday.

Schools: Youngstown, Warren, Niles, Salem, Sharon, New Castle, closed through Monday; Youngstown Diocese, closed through Friday. Contact individual schools.

Universities: Youngstown State, closed through Jan. 12; Kent State Trumbull Campus, closed through Friday; Eastern Gateway Community College, closed Wednesday and Thursday.

Western Reserve Transit Authority (WRTA): No nightline Wednesday, closed Thursday.

Public libraries: Youngstown-Mahoning County, Girard Free Library, McKinley Memorial Library — Niles, Kinsman Free Public Library, closed Wednesday and Thursday; Bristol Public Library — Bristolville, closing at noon Wednesday, closed Thursday; Warren-Trumbull, Hubbard Public Library, closing 5 p.m. Wednesday and closed Thursday; Newton Falls Public Library, closing 6 p.m. Wednesday and closed Thursday.

Stock market: Closed Thursday.
