72 theft charges, most out of Poland, for Struthers couple

YOUNGSTOWN

A Struthers couple have been indicted by a Mahoning County grand jury on 72 counts of felony and misdemeanor theft.

Timothy Esposito and Tara Meta, both 41 and of Riley Avenue in Struthers, were each indicted Tuesday on fourth-degree and fifth-degree felony charges of theft and first-degree misdemeanor charges of theft.

According to jail records, Meta has yet to be taken into custody; Esposito has been in the county jail since Nov. 5.

The indictment says the two were engaged in theft offenses from Aug. 2 to Oct. 18.

They are accused of taking cash, checks, credit, gift and debit cards, jewelry, tools and electronics during that time.

Struthers Detective Jeffrey Lewis said the indictments come as a result of an investigation by several departments, mostly Poland Township’s, into car break-ins. He said most of the break-ins occurred in Poland Township, but a search warrant was served in Struthers as part of the investigation.
