Fire investigators still probing Ohio fatal fires

WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio (AP) — State fire officials say investigations of two recent house fires in southwest Ohio that claimed a total of seven lives are still open.

The Ohio State Fire Marshal’s office sent investigators Friday to the site of a single-story, ranch-style house ravaged by fire near Washington Court House. A 60-year-old woman and her three grandsons died inside. Firefighters arrived there shortly after 4 a.m. to find the house engulfed by flames.

State Fire Marshal’s spokeswoman Lindsey Burnworth says there is no time estimated yet for when the investigation will be wrapped up.

She says investigators are also still trying to determine the cause of a Dec. 12 house fire in Hamilton that killed three children. Their parents and two other children survived that early morning blaze.
